Botox®/Dysport®

Botox®/Dysport® Treatment

Botox® and Dysport® are neurotoxins injected into muscles that work similarly - they cause the muscles to relax and reduce unwanted fine lines.

Here at Wing Dental in Peace River, we’re happy to offer Dysport® services to our patients.

What’s the difference between Botox® and Dysport®?

Botox® and Dysport® are very identical and come from different suppliers.

They both target facial wrinkles and fine lines. They block nerve signals from contracting muscles, which results in a smooth and fresh appearance. But they can also be used to treat dental issues such as temporomandibular joint disorders (TMD).

Like Botox®, Dysport® is made from botulinum toxin type A. It can deliver results quicker than Botox®. Hence, Dysport® may be more suitable if you’re preparing for an event that’s coming soon.

Our dentist will evaluate your smile, facial muscles, and aesthetic preferences during your consultation. We’ll look into possible options and help you decide which treatment is best for you.

How Do Botox® and Dysport® Treatments Work?

We use a tiny needle for injections that are unlike those used for dental freezing. The process only takes a few minutes and all you’ll feel is a little pinch. It’s simple, comfortable, and fast.

The muscle relaxes once the Botox® or Dysport® is injected. Once it takes effect, you can smile, laugh, and make your usual facial expressions without having to feel self-conscious about the fine lines on your face. Daily activities can resume immediately. It’s a myth your face will be left frozen or expressionless afterward.

Touch-ups are typically done every three to four months to maintain optimal results.

What is Botox® Cosmetic?

Botox® Cosmetic treatment complements a beautiful smile as it works efficiently and delivers natural-looking results.

You may be wondering if the dental office is the right place to receive this treatment. Dental professionals are licensed to provide this service to their patients. You can trust their extensive knowledge and training in facial anatomy and related structures.

This minimally invasive procedure uses tiny, targeted injections to eliminate fine facial lines which enhances your smile.

Before And After Of Wendy's Botox Treatment

The Wendy Trials

Botox® Dysport® has been inject to the right side of Wendy's face (unmarked) with the left side of her face (marked) left natural. These photos were taken 2 weeks after the treatment was applied to show the effects of Botox® Dysport® on a face.

Treatment of Hypertrophic Masseters

The patient had Hypertrophic Masseters (big jaw muscles) that got big because she clenched and ground her teeth so hard. We were able to feminize/slenderize her face with botox.

What is Botox® for TMD?

Aside from its cosmetic benefits, Botox® can also be used to provide relief from TMD symptoms.

Even before Botox® was used for cosmetic purposes, it was already being used to help patients dealing with spastic facial muscles, headaches, and chronic migraines.

If you’re experiencing these conditions, Botox® may help alleviate the discomfort for you. The injection eases the tension in the muscles around the jawbone and reduces jaw pain, headaches, and teeth grinding.

Are Botox® and Dysport® Safe?

Health Canada approves the use of Dysport Therapeutic™ and Botox® as both treatments are proven to be safe and effective. The naturally purified proteins that are used have been thoroughly researched and tested.
